I saw this commercial and God totally put this on my heart. You do not run your ministry, your job, or your life for someone else. If you do, than u will be hurt and scared because your whole life will be about others. God has placed you right where he wants you for a season, could be on staff at a church, corporate world, or a stay at home mom. So many times I have taken what God has given me and tried to please my parents, my boss, my friends and myself. I love it when lance says "They can say what ever they want, I'm not back on my bike for them." You and I should not be doing whatever it is God has us doing for any anyone else but him. Galatians 1:10 says Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. Lance doesn't ride for anyone except him. We should live our life for no one but him (Christ)!! Who are your serving????
Today was a great!! I have a student Julianne Cashdollar, who has been growing her out for the last year to donate to "Locks of Love". We cut her hair in front of over 500 students/leaders and it was a powerful testimony of our students willing to help help others who are less fortunate!!
Controlling your eyes is a lost art in our generation. Not very many people want to do this because they have the attitude of "all I did was look"!!! Not controlling your eyes can be a very dangerous thing. Lust always starts with your eyes and goes down from there. A good friend named Marcus Evans. He the youth pastor at Katy Community Fellowship. I will never forget what God did in my heart 4 years ago on that day. I meet Marcus for breakfast at Cracker barrel to talk ministry and life. We are sitting down and a group of very hot girls walked right by me and my eyes went up, down, left and right. When I could not see them anymore, my eyes immediately went to his as I intentionally waited to see what his eyes would do so I could justify what mine did. After he noticed them too, his eyes NEVER come off mine and never looked back. That was the most powerful thing I had ever seen in my entire life. I wanted to have the intergrity of a man of God like Marcus Evans for the rest of my life. That ministered to me so much, that is how you make in impact in someones life without saying a word. I told God from that day forward, I was going to do my best to control my eyes. When I saw this video it got me think about how important it is to control the eyes because you never know who is watching yours. Could be your wife, your kids, your pastor, in this case the media, or most importantly your Heavenly Father!!
Everyday since Michael Jackson died the media, family, friends, critics, and fans have been talking about Michael will be most remembered for his work ethic and innovation. EVERY tribute to him always includes "He was the first one to..." and it got me thinking about how Innovation is so rare. I saw this interview and the part about excepting Christ, I hope was true. It becomes very easy to "Go through the motions" in what ever profession you are in. I have have been so inspired by his quest to always be innovative and give his very best!!! he was always trying to think of a new way to come on stage and amaze his audience. I think we need to have the same creative way of thinking. The question I have been asking my self is "God has given me this unique opportunity to preach the gospel and have I been innovative in my delivery or just going through the motions?" We have to work hard at being innovative, it will never come easy. Kobe Bryant is another innovator with an incredible work ethic. Many people don't like Kobe because of some decisions he has made in the past but the thing I respect most about him is he loves what he does, works hard at it and wants to be the best!! here is what he had to say about Micheal Jackson:
